Mrs. Bell's Cinnamon Diamonds
1 c butter
1 egg yolk (beaten) reserve white for later
½ c white sugar
½ c brown sugar
2 c flour
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
Cream butter, egg yolk, sugars
Mix in dry ingredients
Spread thinly in a paste on cookie sheet
Whip egg white and brush it on the top of the batter
Bake 25 min at 325 degrees
Drizzle on frosting (milk/powdered sugar/food coloring)
Cut in diamonds while still warm
Original recipe says to store in refrigerator for crispness but given how fast they get eaten, may not be necessary!
